Tis the season to be jolly, but some people can be fooled by fake information, so be careful. With all the holidays in December, it’s a perfect time for viruses to appear.

If you receive what you think is a message from UPS, FedEx, DHL, or USPS stating “Delivery Failure,” be careful. There is a scam going around. These messages will say that there’s an invoice attached. Do NOT print out or open the invoice.

This scam has been circulating for years, and is constantly updated to look legitimate, but all delivery companies and Canada Post are on record that this is a scam.

Why does it keep making the rounds? Because new people enter the Internet for the first time every day, and these people may not be knowledgeable about such things. And because anyone, in a hurry, might just click on it.

The best thing you can do, besides being careful, is to get a good anti-virus program. There are many that work. One of the best, because it doesn’t clog your system with files, keeps current with viruses, and is updated daily, is eSet. I’ve had it for a few years and it has saved me from serious computer problems.
