Getting up before the crack of dawn to make sure to get a good photo of a cactus blossom was worth it. These cactus blossoms are part of the night-blooming cereus family, and generally (but not always) open at night. Once they’re fully open, they emit a glorious scent. Enjoy!
I live in rural Andalucia in Spain, and I have some wonderful cacti that have fantastic flowers when they bloom. I was very upset yesterday as one of my cacti had been budding up with 2 flowers (flowering for the first time,)for the last few days. I had to go off to Gibraltar early yesterday and when I came back at 11 p.m. the flowers were just starting to droop and fade–I had missed their full glory!
Another great photo. I wonder is that whitish mist around those flowers pollen?
