How to Send Visitors Away

In the examples below, with the exception of the gray text on a white background, I'm trying to show that small bits of colored text on colored background, or colored text on a white background may be okay, but be very, very careful about making colored text your body text. Doing so sends a not-so-subtle message to visitors that you are indifferent to their reading efforts ... thus indifferent to them as potential consumers or clients.
Here is some body text to show you how difficult it can be to read blue text on the deep blue background. Is your head spinning? Did you just take a moment to clean your monitor screen and it didn't help? Here is some body text to show you how difficult it can be to read orange/gold text on the deep brown background. Are you leaning forward as you work to read this text? Why bother? The designer apparently doesn't care about your needs.
Here is some body text to show you how difficult it can be to read avocado green text on the black background. Are your eyes doing aerial maneuvers in an effort to read this text? Why bother? The designer apparently doesn't care about your needs. Here is some body text to show you how difficult it can be to read gray on the reddish-brown background. Are your eyes twitching and vibrating with the effort to read this text? Or are you squinting? Why bother? The designer apparently doesn't care about your needs.
This is an example of vivid text on a vivid background. Does this make your head spin? Do you have to move back to read it comfortably? Actually, the contrast isn't too bad ... but can your eyes take that vivid lime green for long? If you're going to use this one, use it for small clusters of text!
Here is some body text to show you how difficult it can be to read gray text on a white background. People do this all the time. Are you squinting? Why bother? The designer apparently doesn't care about your needs. Here is some body text to show you how difficult it is to read red text. Sure you can read it, but red is a strong, forceful color, and a lot of it bunched together kind of pushes you back. See example farther down on this page.
This is an example of vivid blue text on a black background. It often appears extremely dark against the black, making it almost impossible to read. Is this exotic or foolish?

In the examples below, with the exception of the gray text on a white background, I'm showing how much more difficult it is to read the paragraphs below both because of more text and because it's in big blocks, and big blocks of text intimidate many people.
