Canine Co-Pilots

August 10, 2007 By Administrator

Do you know someone in need of a trained assistance dog? You might want to investigate Canine Co-Pilots, of Flagstaff, Arizona.

This organization raises service dogs, social therapy dogs, hearing dogs, and autism dogs. Here’s the way this 501(c)(3) works:

Our puppies are placed into volunteer homes at 8 weeks of age. The puppy raiser then attends training class once per week to learn training techniques and commands. The puppy raiser also gets to take their dog in training everywhere, including to their place of employment! After placement, the volunteer is required to participate in weekly field trips out in public alongside Canine Co-Pilots trainers. The dogs come back to us prior to their placement with a person with a disability.

People can contribute as little as $2 for a dog brush, toothbrush, or toothpaste. Or as much as $15,000 for training and placement of one service dog.

Think about it. Canine Co-Pilots. Another nonprofit organization motivated by the desire to help people with specific needs and nowhere else to go.

And who is this sleeping dog? Gracie, my granddog!

Canine Co-Pilots is a wonderful organization. This is where I got Shelley, my service dog. The training Jana and the others did with Shelley is amazing! The training we received together was outstanding. From the beginning of our training, the members of Canine Co-Pilots encouraged our bonding as a Service Team. I am most grateful to Jana, Erica and the puppy raisers for their excellent care and training of Shelley, a most extraordinary dog.

I can now say, “God is my pilot, Shelley is my Canine Co-Pilot and I am just along for the ride.”

Kate, thanks for sharing. I’ve heard very good things about Canine Co-Pilots. Aren’t the trainers of service dogs special? Along with the dogs, they are truly a gift from God.

I was going to get a dog from Canine Co-Pilots but it didn’t work out. So we are wanting to go back to see what they can do for us. I have a son that is in need of a Autism dog. I have e-mailed them and now I’m waiting to hear back. I’m just wanting the phone number so I can call them. If anyone know there number please let me know!! My son can’t wait to get a dog!!

    Hi,

I just googled their services and their website is no longer working. Do you have any other contact information? Or a new website? If so, can you please let me know? Thank you.

Sorry…can’t find any info on them either except that the Arizona Corporation Commission has some issues with them. Thanks for asking, Lindsey.
