Shirk honored by DirectTV
Did you know that 4 Paws for Ability founder Karen Shirk was one of CNN’s Heroes for 2008? Karen is alive today because of a service dog. She’s devoted her life to making the same kind of help available to other disabled children and adults. Karen has developed a special niche of providing dogs for autistic children and their families, where a loving companion can really make a difference in a child’s life.
Now DirectTV is running its second year of Hometown Heroes, and Shirk has again been chosen as a nationwide hero by a TV network for her work.
Hometown Heroes second season begins Sunday, April 5, (9 a.m. ET/PT) only on DIRECTV’s The 101® Network. The series, hosted for a second year by Joan Lunden, is presented commercial-free and in HD. See the 4 Paws for Ability feature, Episode #7 - May 17, 2009.
