I have a severe hearing loss, so tend to keep my computer on “mute” most of the time. To be honest, most of the time when I’m working at my computer, I’m alone, and I don’t wear my hearing aids.
That said, I love captioned videos. For me, they aren’t a necessity, but that’s not true of many, many people who have no hearing whatsoever.
