He has a terrible time in school, and they just say he seems like a normal boy to me, he just needs to try harder. In first grade he was so frustrated with school and was becoming more and more angry everyday, we brought home a boxer, and went to several obedience classes, and right away he became more at ease, even the teacher noticed a difference. Teddy (our dog) was not trained as a service animal, but he sure acts like one for my son. I stumbled onto this article by accident, but I am grateful for it. Considering all of the doctors and specialists that we see I was never aware that alot of his problems stemmed from the FAS and not the ADHD. Thanks! I am severely allergic myself,but am now more open to the idea of getting a non-allergenic service dog for her, even though her behavior sometimes reminds me of a dog herself in her wildness. I want to add calm to the household and not more wildness I would love more information from you on how to find a dog that is most suitable for her. My son goes to Postive Education Program because he was not learning in public school. We do have a german shepherd at home and now I understand why he is always wanting her around him and she will follow him just about anywhere he calls her to come. She does cuddle with him and he does have sensory integration issues along with developmentally being at a 5yr old level.
