Time for an early morning meeting in Phoenix. Community service organization. I had email directions and my Google map directions. In Phoenix, there's a big difference between streets and avenues, and my directions were slightly off. After about five tries, I stopped at an AM PM to find a phone book so I could get the office number and directions. Gary helped me get the book, and once I had the number, I used my cellphone to call the office. Only problem was that I couldn't hear the person in the office. Not surprising, given my hearing loss. You can hope the hearing aid and the phone are compatible, and that all people and lines are doing their part, but stuff happens. Once again: Gary to the rescue. I handed him the phone, he got the directions, and gave them to me. Duck soup. Thanks, AM PM for having people like Gary on staff. He would have been within his rights not to help, as he was busy, but he took a few moments to give my day a Judy Jump Start. I found the office building within moments of leaving the AM PM parking lot.
My long-time friend, BL Ochman, and biz partner have just launched a very cool website, starting with a blog. PawFun. We're going to be able to order tee shirts with photos of our pets on it. The blog site right now has a caption contest, which is great fun, but what struck my eye was an article by a NY veterinarian Dr. Jennifer Mlekoday on the top 10 things pets swallow. Ochman is passionate about dog care, so you can expect lots of "How-to's" at Paw Fun. Enjoy.
Some days are more special than others. Today is one of those. My colleague and new friend, Bernd Nurnberger, awarded me the Special Barnstar award for being the first only ever person in the world to make a comment on his new blog! Thank you, Bernd. What an honor. A true, honest-to-goodness Wikipedia Barnstar award. Yay! Bernd ensured that this day began on an extra happy note for me. I encourage you to visit his blog and subscribe to it. Take time to read "Three obstacles to learning." Powerful. He is very, very savvy in the worlds of marketing, analysis, and communication. And he often rides an interesting bicycle to work. His tag line is: "Share, help, co-create, this is what I do. Lead, follow, or get out of the way, that is what either of us can choose any time." And now, as I (virtually) grab my special star, it's time to take on the world of Judy: laundry, yardwork, study, playing with my cats, reading, networking, and hanging pictures, with some time out for a siesta.
What an idea! And one conceived and executed by my brilliant strategist bud, B.L. Ochman. Budget Rent A Car, according to Steve Hall, has launched a blog-based, four-week, 16-city treasure hunt, called Up Your Budget, which offers a total of $160,000 in prizes. The Up Your Budget campaign, says MarketingVOX, is being promoted almost entirely through Blogads, though some keywords on Google and Yahoo were purchased as well. Continue Reading
