Ask Judy Question #7
Dear Judy: I've just decided to start my own VA business. Here's my question: could you give me some ideas of how to market my business to obtain clients (either locally or via the internet)?
Thanks for your help.
Signed...Newbie VA in Illinois
Response from Judy Vorfeld
Dear Newbie: Welcome to the world of Virtual Assistants. If people go to acronymfinder.com, they'll find more than 30 different acronyms for "VA." You, of course, refer to Virtual Assistant. Good choice. If you go to Google and type in "Virtual Assistant," you'll find one of my favorite VA sites right at the top of the list: AndreaPixley.com. I first met Andrea through IVAA, and when she moved to the Phoenix area, I got to know her personally. She's fantastic as a professional and as a person. Study her site. Everything you see is a form of marketing of either her professional skills, her character or her personality. Note that she does volunteer work. Notice that her testimonials have links back to the people who wrote them. See how she displays her credentials. Check out her VA memberships, and consider joining one or more of the same groups.
Newbie, by hooking up with other colleagues (not competitors), you will advance much more rapidly in your marketing efforts. Good luck!
