My maternal grandmother, Sue Crocker Boynton, loved writing poetry. It is wonderful that in recent years, in Bellingham, Washington, the Sue C Boynton Poetry Walk and Contest was established. A blog has been started to feature the wonderful, innovative works of people who entered the contest this year. And to honor a spunky little woman who was born in the 1800s and died in 1981. In between those years a lot happened. There's more at my personal site. Enjoy the blog. It's a work in progress.

"I never had writer’s block until I was 50 and my father died," says Becky Blanton. "After 40 years of writing, my pen suddenly stopped moving. It was though the man who abused and tortured me had dragged my muse into the grave with him. He had birthed my writing skills with a bloody belt, now he was taking them away." On her Blog, Blanton says, "The question I get most from people, other than – 'What should I do with my life?' is, 'Aren’t you afraid?' I thought about it and the two really are more related than you’d think at first glance. Of course I’m afraid. We all are. That’s how we’re designed. Fear keeps us alive. Without fear how would we be able to associate love, abandonment and being turned out of our tribe to die for not driving the right car or using the right mouthwash? Seriously. Fear is part of our lives." If you have writer's block, or some other block that keeps you from being all you were meant to be, you'll want to read Blanton's brief but pithy eBook, No More Fear, 10 foolproof secrets for beating writer's block.
